T3 Door vents
#1
Hi Grant, a question I should have answered for you!

There are two vent systems in a T3 door.
One is the channel through the middle of the door. It seals at the front (feed from the dash fresh air box), and out the rear in the pillar to feed air to the rear roof vents in a van
The second is feed air from holes in the front of the door, outside the door seal, and feeds out into the cabin from the vent in the lower rear corner.
The purpose of this is to have air flow through the door and prevent a build-up of moisture. You can close this for winter to prevent cold air coming into the cab.

The same system existed in T2 doors, only the vent from the dash to the rear from the fresh air box was attached to the door card. The air flow through the door was the same.

Putting this vent into the door of the T3 gained cabin room, but also strengthened the doors.

Interestingly on a Caravelle, there is an additional rubber seal at the leading edge of the door that would impede this air flow.

Even though this vent is redundant in a ute, it still is needed for strengthening of the door.
